Caste Certificate Online Apply – One of the most important documents for students and employees in India is the caste certificate, especially for students and employees belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and backward caste communities. It is your passport to reserved seats in educational institutions and government jobs.
Good News: The days of running from pillar to post are behind you now. Today, almost every state has a completely online process to Caste Certificate. If you stay in Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, or Uttarakhand, the process is more or less the same. But what is it? Let us tell you exactly how to do it, without any jargon.
Caste Certificate Online Apply Step By Step
Before we get into specific state names, understand this rhythm: Login → Apply → Upload → Track → Download. It is applied for a certificate in any state whatever you learn from above.
Step 1: Find Your State’s Official Website
Do not look for a phrase like “Caste certificate apply.” You should look for a phrase like “[Your State Name] E-District Portal” or “[Your State Name] RTPS Portal,” with RTPS standing for Right to Public Services.
Examples: RTPS Bihar, Sewa Setu (for Assam), Nadakacheri (
Step 2: Register/Login (Using Your Mobile)
For first-time users: Look for the “New User? Register” or “Sign Up” button.
In most cases, all you will need to provide is your mobile number. Enter your mobile number, your OTP, and your password.
Important: Keep the following number handy—it is your identity. All updates will be sent to this number.
Step 3: Select the Correct Service
- Once logged in, one can usually locate “Apply for Certificate” or “New Request.” From the dropdown menu, Caste Certificate (or SC/ST/OBC Certificate depending upon your community)
Step 4: Fill the Application Form (Be Accurate!)
This is the longest step; however, you mustn’t rush. You will need to enter:
- Personal Details: Full Name (as per school and Aadhar), Gender, Date of Birth.
- Family Details: Father’s name, Mother’s name. In many states, your father’s caste certificate is mandatory.
- Address Details: Permanent and current address, pin code, village, and police station.
- Caste Details Provide Your Caste and Sub-Caste as Specified in the Official State Caste List.
Step 5: Upload Documents (The “Photo Copy” Stage)
Instead of physical photocopies, now you are required to upload scanned copies or clear photos via your mobile. You must keep them ready:
- Passport size photograph (recent)
- Proof of Date of Birth (Birth certificate, 10th admit card, or Aadhaar).
- Proof of Residence ( Ration card, Voter ID, Electricity bill, or Land record ).
- Parents’ Caste Certificate (If you have it. This serves as a proof and speeds up your application). Affidavit/Self Declaration (Sometimes required if you don’t have a parent’s certificate)
Step 6: Submit & Note the Reference Number
After submitting, the page will display “Application Reference/ID Number.”
Write this down. Take a photograph of it. This is your tracking key. You will receive it via SMS too.
Step 7: Track Your Application
Don’t call the office, just check online. Go back to the online portal, click on “Track Application Status,” and enter the reference number to see exactly where your application stands (in which office it is pending, if it has been approved, if it has been rejected, etc.).
Step 8: Receive Alert & Download the Certificate.
- This is the magic moment. When your certificate is ready, you will receive an SMS on your phone with a direct download link.
- Alternatively, you may log in to the portal and go to “Download Certificate” or “Print Certificate” to save the PDF copy. This digital version is 100% legal and valid.
