Key Responsibilities
- Triage and investigate security incidents identified by SOC analysts.
- Improve security monitoring rules and optimize tools to reduce false positives.
- Coordinate with the SOC Manager to escalate security issues when necessary.
- Collaborate with business units to prioritize vulnerability remediation activities.
- Monitor threat intelligence feeds and vendor alerts for critical vulnerabilities.
- Analyze security alerts and correlate data from multiple sources.
- Review system logs and third-party security management tools to identify potential threats.
- Assist in developing and maintaining incident response procedures.
- Support the implementation and management of security tools used by the SOC team.
- Create dashboards and security reports for management.
- Be available to work in rotational 24/7 shifts.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in Security Operations Center (SOC), Cybersecurity, or Information Security environments.
Technical Skills
- Experience with Windows and Linux systems.
- Knowledge of server and application hardening.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Azure
- EDR & XDR (CrowdStrike, Windows Defender)
- SOAR Platforms
- SIEM Tools (Splunk, Rapid7, ArcSight, McAfee Nitro)
- Palo Alto and Cisco Security Solutions
- Knowledge of IDS/IPS, MFA, DLP, encryption technologies, database activity monitoring, and web content filtering.
Networking & Security Knowledge
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and protocols such as HTTP, FTP, SMTP, and DNS.
- Familiarity with cyber threats, including:
- DDoS/DoS attacks
- SQL Injection
- Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)
- Reconnaissance Scanning
Compliance & Frameworks
- Understanding of compliance standards, such as:
- PCI-DSS
- SOX
- HIPAA
- Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and Cyber Kill Chain.
Additional Skills
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools like Nessus, Qualys, Acunetix, or Metasploit.
- Scripting knowledge in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Preferred Certifications
Candidates holding any of the following certifications will have an advantage:
- CISSP
- CompTIA Security+
- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
